I wanted to love this bar, but I couldn't. I tried it for 2 weeks. When my hair dried, it was dull and covered in a thick layer of residue. I tried using less shampoo, rinsing it for longer. Nothing worked. My hair felt dirtier right after my showers than it would after 3 days of not washing it. Oh well. I suppose I can use it as body wash, but I don't really want a layer of residue on my body either. I got the "Refresh" version
When I switched to shampoo bars I started out using Friendly from the UK. It worked great but I wanted something closer to home/lower carbon footprint. The sage on the mountain bar finally was my local match! I have fine but curly hair so I need a carefully balanced bar to cut down frizz but without too much oil. These bars are perfect, no nasty residue and the sent is wonderful. Warning, the first couple of times I used the bar the scent was strong, but the smell after washing and when your hair is dry is mild so don't worry.
Absolutely love this shampoo bar. Leaves all hair types from thin and straight, to curly, to thick and wavy - feeling and smelly great. Great alternative to bottled, everyday shampoo.
Love this shampoo bar! It's an easy lather and will last a long time.
At first I was worried it smelled to strong but my washed hair smelled amazing when I got out of the shower. It dried super clean and soft. The shampoo even had a nice satisfying foam to it
These granules were very moist, almost a clay-like substance. Given the package is very thin, it was challenging to get out. I had to get some tweezers - I never did get it all out. Then I couldn't pour them into my bottle or even use a funnel because the clumps were too big. Once the water was added, the consistency was OK, but I don't feel like it conditioned my hair very well at all. I really really wanted to love this, but I just didn't.
I purchased a trial size of the citrus scent, but I would not recommend that scent. The scent does not linger, but it does smell "off" while using the shampoo. I mixed the packet with (an unknown amount of) water in a 3 fl. oz. travel bottle (emptied packet into bottle, added water to under 3 fl. oz. (aiming for 2 fl. oz.), shook the bottle). The consistency of the product is not very viscous (more liquid-y) and kind of slippery (similar to the Fresh soy face cleanser). Quite a bit of product must be used (I usually use about the size of a grape, but for this product I needed multiple grapes) to lather the product and get a clean hair feeling. I used it in combination with Olaplex no. 5 conditioner. My hair felt soft, clean and nice after air drying. What I like about this product is that I can prepare shampoo based on my use/demand instead of purchasing a giant bottle that will take me years to go through. ***I may have over diluted the product.
I got the trial size as I was curious and it felt really harsh on my hair. Tried to use all of it but noticed my hair was consistently dry and felt brittle after use so rinsed the rest down the drain.
Not much lather as it’s sulphate free. Left the hair super shiny and clean after wash. Will definitely recommend.
Works really well, doesn’t dry out hair. First “natural” shampoo my daughter (oily hair) really likes and I (dry hair) like it, too. Can’t wait for your store to reopen!
I've been using Eco's shampoo and conditioner together for a few weeks now, and seem to be getting better results than I did with more expensive (and wasteful!) products. My hair is shiny and frizz-free.
I loved the idea of this since it's extremely low waste, but it just does not work!
The end product after adding the recommended amount of water is very liquidy and does not do a good job of conditioning my hair. After a shower using this, my hair felt very dry and tangled. I bought all of the 3 different scent options because I thought I'd love them, so how I'm just trying to use them up to be done with them. I've been using this as a leave in conditioner just to use it up which seems to be doing pretty well in that capacity.
As a stand alone it's a definite NO, but as a leave in, it works.
I would not purchase again, I'm sticking with the bars now.
This is exactly what I was looking for! The conditioner powder/paste mix is perfect in every way. Comes in a zero -plastic paper zip bag, fun to make, leaves my hair silky smooth, reasonably priced for the quality. I only wish it’d come in a bulk size or they can restock. So glad I found this. Will repurchase!
This conditioner works really well! I had tried conditioner bars and I just wasn't a fan. This stuff comes out to a great consistency and does a good job. I added my own mix of essential oils to the unscented packet for my own scent. When my current batch is out I will buy the bulk packet to keep using this product with minimal waste!
I am hooked on this dry shampoo! I use about a teaspoon of this product in my oily shoulder length straight hair. I rub the powder into my scalp and voila! My hair is refreshed and ready to go like I just showered. Whether I am on a week long camping trip or just in-between showers this dry shampoo does the trick - AND the 3/4 cup product come in home compatible compostable packaging!
This dry shampoo is amazing! It lasts forever, it's inexpensive, and it works well! I have dirty blond hair so the white blends into my hair and you can't tell. If you have dark hair, you'll maybe see a white cast. I love this stuff and if I ever run out, I'll be buying more!
I think im sold! I'm trying this out for the first time and i feel like it really is holding down my oily scalp! im very impressed. I've tried mulitple spray dry shampoos and so far this has been working!
Ok, so the first time I used this dry shampoo I dumped waaaay too much on my scalp and it looked like I had been dusted with powdered sugar lol. But once I figured out the correct amount it works great! Let's me get away with not washing my hair an extra day to save water.
After the first use - I’ve been converted. It’s very light, absorbs the oils so well, and doesn’t leave my hair with an incredibly strong smell. I thought I’d miss the canned dry shampoo but I don’t. My hair feels so much more natural (not stiff, powdery, or sticky) with this product. My only Initial struggle with this new dry shampoo is application. I’d recommend using a makeup brush to dip into the powder and apply to your hair.
CGM girl here! Jello shot is the perfect name for this gel. It is sooooo thick! I personally have been putting some water in my hands with the gel and then rubbing my hands together before I put it in my hair. I am still learning how to use it compared to the other gels I've used, but so far I really like it! It seems to define more strands of my hair than other gels I have used.
I did not like this product, it left the dreaded flaky white bits in my hair after it dried.
I thought maybe I had just added too much, but I still got the white flakies with less product.
Maybe this works for people with wavy hair, but if you have thick curly hair I don't think this will be great for you.
My hair still got frizzy and I didn't notice a difference in curl hold compared to when I just use a little leave in conditioner.
I would not purchase again.
My husband and I both have short hair and love this gel! It’s easy to make and forms a perfect consistency to hold your hair in place without gets gunky and crusty. I go for days between washing and it hold my hair in place the whole time without looking oily and gross (I have fine hair that shows grease quickly). If I need to refresh it, I just wet my hands and touch up spots. Highly recommend this product!
when I'm too lazy to make flax seed gel this is my #1 to go hair gel. It starts a little stiff feeling when my hair is wet, when its all dry it gives me the perfect curl for my natural hair.
Used it with my favorite leave-in conditioner on my 2c-3b hair and it left a nice cast with way less product than I normally use. I made a thicker gel by very gradually adding in water and then sprayed more water into my hair to help distribute. Definitely recommend trying to break up the solids before adding water since my mixture ended up a little chunky, but still worked well.
Overall really great product that I can see myself permanently replacing my old gels with once I've used them up!
I am SO happy I decided to purchase this product a few months ago! I am always looking for ways to simplify my curly hair care routine and as I am a frequent traveller who had plans to go abroad for 3 months, I needed something that worked and that I could bring a bulk amount of with me in my backpacker's pack. And this product is everything I could want and more! I have 2B/2C hair and this product paired with the Eco-Collective organic cocoa butter conditioner bar are a DREAM together! My hair has never looked better - no crunch, just non-frizzy curls that hold! I have a tiny jar with the solid gel powder and another with a small amount of the gel I've made while abroad as well as 2 tins with my shampoo and conditioner bars and BOOM - The ultimate zero-waste minimal travelers hair care routine. I will praise this product forever! Thank you Eco-Collective and Salon Solids!!
This is a perfect curl cream that adds just enough crunch for definition but they can be easily broken up for soft bounce! So happy I found a sustainable product that works.
My newest fav hair gel!!! It smells so good and has a very decent hold, brings out the curls 100%!
This creamy gel is awesome for curly girls who don’t want a lot of crunch with their products. It leaves the hair so shiny and bouncy!
This product worked great on my curls. I use it with the spray leave on conditioner then follow up with the curl definer. A little goes a long way. I love the sweet orange smell! I look forward to using it every day. I plan to purchase again.
After cleaning this brush numerous times, I still find it awkward (as noted below), but it's getting easier. The trick to cleaning it is to thoroughly comb or brush it to remove as many hair strands as you can before cleaning.
With most hair strands removed, it's much easier to scrub carefully with a mild soap and a nail brush, sideways under running water, being careful to not get water into the brush. Then I let it dry, face down so any water runs out.
Solid, but quite light. Just the right amount of stiffness in the bristles, gets through tangles and scratches the scalp in a good way. Feels like it will still be a great brush for years to come.
This brush is sturdy and made of quality materials, and feels like it will last several years. If I was basing this review on durability, it would get 5 out of 5.
However it requires frequent cleaning (at least in the land of LA smog) and is difficult to clean. You can't submerge the brush and soak it. You have to be careful not to get water in to it, while awkwardly scrubbing the wooden bristles.
I wish the rubber portion that held the bristles could be popped out and washed separately, then popped back in again.
