Everything I need in a toothbrush. I wish the bristles could be compostable, but it's still great to have a fully compostable bamboo handle. It feels nice in my hand, and I think that these toothbrushes actually last longer than "regular" plastic ones (at least, I haven't noticed the bristles starting to wear down yet like a plastic toothbrush's bristles would by this time. When do you REALLY need to replace a bamboo toothbrush, anyway?)
I've tired other bamboo toothbrushes but these are my favorite as of right now. The bristles stay in place, they are sturdy but not too hard that they hurt. I've noticed my teeth feeling extra clean. The handle is smooth and I'm not afraid of it splintering. Plus they are super affordable.
I wasn't sure how I would like a bamboo toothbrush, but I've been using it for a couple weeks and I love it! Won't be going back to plastics.
This is the cheapest and best quality bamboo brush I’ve found, bristles are decent strength too. I gave 4 stars just because I wish they would find a way to make the bristles compostable.
Good brush strength
Great product I initially found in a neighborhood recycle store.
Feel really good about using these. Very effective and works great on plaque.
I was thrilled to find them at Eco Collective as the store is now closed.
Great experience shopping online with Echo Collective! Recommend.
So I was skeptical of toothpaste replacement tabs because I have tried another one before (toothy tabs from Lush) and these were WAY better. They don't have a salty baking soda taste, they aren't as chalky when you bite them, and my mouth feels so clean after using them! I almost don't want to finish up my conventional toothpaste that I still have because of how much I love these, but I will squeeze every last bit out of that tube and then never buy another tube again.
Taste takes a few to get used to I think but once you do regular toothpaste is grose! So great for long term travel too, never going back!
Great idea...wish it worked for me...leaves me with the worst breath. Going back to Toms and using TerraCycle.
I was searching for a plastic-free alternative for toothpaste and came across eco-collective in a YouTube video. It came in such a cute little glass jar and absolutely no plastic packaging! I loved that the package came with a hand written note from the store as well! It was a little weird chewing up the tablets because it isn’t something I was used to, but it REALLY worked. I was really surprised how clean it made me mouth feel. I definitely would recommend the toothpaste tablets to everyone!
This is my second time purchasing this toothpaste, I love it! I had tried Lush tooth tabs, Toms toothpaste, and tooth powder. The lush products and tooth powder made my teeth sensitive. My dental hygienist commented that charcoal tooth powder can change the pH in your mouth and harm your teeth. The Toms toothpaste I wasn’t a fan of the taste, and I couldn’t locate a Toms recycling program near me. The David’s toothpaste is AWESOME. No sensitivity, the consistency is like normal toothpaste, and the peppermint is very pleasant and not an “earthy tasting” peppermint. My only comment is that when you are done with the toothpaste, it’s a little tricky to cut the packaging apart to clean it before recycling. The edges are sharp and the key makes the tube so flat that you can’t easily cut the side to clean the inside out. I’m happy to do it to reduce my waste, but something to be mindful of. So happy to discover this toothpaste!
I love the rolling key to make sure you get as much toothpaste out of the tube as possible. I also love that the metal tube is recyclable, although the plastic cap is not (in my town) due to its small size. The flavor is not a minty as a traditional Crest or Colgate toothpaste, but still refreshing and probably preferable for those of you who are not fans of mint. I am not sure if it is dentist-recommended - I plan to bring it up with my dentist next time I go in and make sure I am making a healthy choice as well as en environmentally conscious one! The price is admittedly pretty high for a tube of toothpaste, although hopefully it will last a long time, especially with the rolling key. I may post an update to this review with information on how long one tube lasts (brushing 2x a day) and what my dentist says about this product. Be well!
I love this toothpaste! It has a fresh taste and great consistency, and the tube key is such a plus to use all the product. One of my favorite swaps to date.
I recently purchased the shampoo bar and have used it 4 times. Unfortunately it makes my hair feel really greasy and dull so I don’t like it:( maybe my husband will like it, thanks anyway 😊
Recently re-purchased the Lovely Rita shampoo bar for curly hair. I am Black and wear my hair naturally curly, and have found that this shampoo bar works great for me. If you're like me and don't wash your hair every time you shower -- or, if you have roommates who also use the shower but don't share shampoo -- I would suggest that you don't store the bar in the shower, even on a wire rack. Even just a little water getting on it during each shower will dissolve it faster. With my second bar, I've been storing it like this (https://bit.ly/2Rt9oOg), and I can already tell that it will last much longer this time.
This bar cleans well, doesn't dry my hair and smells fabulous. But smell doesn't linger and isn't overwhelming. Love it. My hair is dead straight and I live in the desert SW. This shampoo bar works great for me. Plus, it's not encased in plastic and the little box it's shipped in is recyclable.
I tried shampoo and conditioner bars from Lush several years ago and hated them. They made my hair feel like straw and I was mortified when I realized how much artificial dye was in it! I avoided shampoo bars after that, but finally decided to give them another shot when I got tired of buying shampoo in plastic bottles that are full of sulfates, artificial coloring and fragrances, and who knows what else.
These shampoo bars are amazing!! I’ve been using the Lovely Rita Super Condition bar and my hair is so soft, moisturized, and shiny. My scalp used to be super dry, but since using this product, my scalp couldn’t be happier! Good for the earth, good for my body. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to conventional shampoos again.
I'm really excited to use these reusable face wipes. I love the wooden container for them! I have a small mesh bag that I put the used ones in for laundry. I was disappointed that the clothes were white and not colorful like the picture but it just means I will have to order more!!
Facial rounds are really soft and strong, much better than disposables. Happy to be making another step towards zero waste!
This is one of the easiest zero-waste swaps you can make. I love them and use them everyday to remove makeup from under my eyes or apply toner. They’re super soft and can be used multiple times before washing. They also get softer after you wash them a few times! Liked them so much I bough then as Christmas gifts for friends.
You won’t be disappointed!!
So glad I got these! I have been trying to cut down on my single-use products and these are amazing!
My skin needs a lot of TLC, especially during the winter months. I'm not prone to breakouts, but I have very dry skin and this product has worked wonders. I love applying this balm at night right after I've washed my face. I'll gently massage it into my face, neck and even hands, and when I wake up in the morning, my skin feels soft and supple. I also appreciate that it has only 5 ingredients. Highly recommend!
Okay, I don’t know how to rate this product. Let’s start with the good, this product I really admire because of its simplicity but it’s really made for people with normal skin with no problems with acne or dryness. The oils in this ARENT very moisturizing and I found jsut sit on my face instead of absorbing. This means it can dehydrate your skin so if you’re super oily or super dry, this isn’t exactly the lotion you should try. I’m also pretty acne prone but I was reading reviews and someone said it cured their skin so I figured I’d try it. It broke me out pretty badly, probably because of the olive oil. It’s a decent moisturizer but it’ll probably only get used around my eyes and when my skin is super dry I guess. I have hormonal acne that’s pretty acne prone, so it resulted in a lot of black heads and cysts. If you have acne prone skin just use something like Rosehip oil as a moisturizer. I’m sure this works fine for a lot of people but not for me
Amazing product. Nothing more needed to be said!
This product feels very safe and healing, however I found that I wasn't fond of the waxy and oily residue on my oil- and congestion-prone skin. I also found it pore-clogging, even though most of the ingredients are non-comedogenic (with the exception of olive oil, which has a comedogenic rating of 2). Unfortunately it won't work for my daily skin routine, but I've been using it on any dry patches during my retinol use, as well as a general skin salve :)
I have very dry skin, especially in the winter, and this moisturizer helps more than any other I’ve tried. It does leave some oily sheen on top of my skin so I dust some powder on top. So worth it though!
I was nervous about trying this, but I made it through my first shave without nicking myself and my legs feel SO SMOOTH! Love!
I had been very nervous to try the safety razor. I finally used all the razors I had on hand and decided it was time. It is a bit of an investment, at first. However, it is a high quality that should last you a life time and the blade replacements are so cheap! Before my first use, I watched a couple of YouTube videos on how to use properly and safely. I have found that short strokes with a delicate pressure works perfectly. I did nick my legs during the first use, but like I said there is a learning curve. My advice would be to use our when you have plenty of time to do it carefully. I take my razor apart are each use and rinse thoroughly and store in a dry place. This has proven to keep the razor and blade in top shape for long lasting use. Highly recommend!
It’s good for finer hair, but does not do a thorough job on thick hair. I’ve contacted the company about a return but have never heard back. Pretty disappointed in quality of product and service.
Fresh out of the package with a brand new blade, I tried shaving in the shower and the razor missed a lot of hair and took multiple times to get make the slightest difference, but still no clean shave. I tried shaving dry with no water, no shaving soap, just legs lightly lotioned, and it worked. Strange? Still playing around with it to make it work because this is the next step in my zero waste journey! Maybe I need some tips or tricks. As of right now, it works best out of the shower, and not the first blade in the package, but the second.
What a great razor swap! It is much easier to use than I thought it would be and at first I was slightly intimidated. The housing for the blade does a great job covering it so I don't cut myself and the blades are sharp enough to where I don't feel the drag/pull while shaving like I did with a disposable razor. Don't be afraid to try this razor, it is totally worth the investment, and now I never have to buy another razor, ever!
I’ve long been looking for a more sturdy hair tie that doesn’t break every couple of months and that’s zero waste. These hair ties ROCK, they stay true to shape and don’t stretch out which I absolutely love. Plus I have dark brown hair and so I like that I could buy some that blended in with my hair.
Wore one of these for an intense hour long workout. I have a thick head of hair so I fully expected it to crease as well as struggle to hold my hair, not only did my pony stay tight the entire time, but when I took it out, it didn't take any hair with it and best of all: NO CREASE!! Exceeded my greatest expectations.
Love these hair ties and went back for more!
Easy to use and works great.
Love this floss!
Love this floss! Super easy to put refill spools in the container, and it feels/works/everything just like "normal" floss that ends up in a landfill.
My teeth have never felt so clean until I started using this! It's the perfect thickness, and my boyfriend in the dental field loves it, too!
I'd been looking for a zero-waste floss option for a while, and glad I found this! The floss isn't waxed but has a nice grippy texture that makes it easy to use.
These are really well made jars. Airtight. Nice rubber inside the lid. Great company to work with. Such nice people.
I have used a tongue scraper for years but they have always been the cheap plastic ones. This is a great product. I have been using it for the past month and feel a lot cleaner. I used the plastic one i still had, and found that my mouth didn't feel nearly as clean. I highly recommend this one over a plastic one that you have to replace every month or so. This one is easy to clean and sterilize. Its worth the extra few dollars, in 2 months you've already got your moneys worth.
Never used this before. I’m addicted now. No bad breath complaints so far!
This shaving "soap" bar is excellent! It foams up enough to feel a bit like shaving cream, and it leaves my skin softer than any shaving cream out of a can ever did! Plus container left behind!
It's a good quality product and I like the mascara but I'm looking to be plastic free and there's a full plastic bottle inside of bamboo sleeve. So not only is there as much plastic as most other mascaras, they also used resources and energy to make the extra, frankly pointless, outer bamboo later. Feels like greenwashing to me. I do love their pressed foundation which is plastic free and refillable
I've been looking for more eco-conscious mascaras; although this does have a plastic tube inside, it has a bambo exterior, and seems for better than any non-plastic containers I've tried for mascara. It works very well, I've been using this mascara everyday and it has no irritation (as opposed to some mascara from other brands I've bought in the past). Would recommend!
This is a great mascara! Elate Cosmetics is the makeup I use and love it.
These are so good. I can't decide which flavor is the best.
I sadly did not like these at all. I was excited to purchase them but they didn’t stand out to me, especially at $6. They just lacked in flavor/taste. I can’t see them “covering up” any bad breath. I gave 3 stars because I like the package and idea.
These are really nice to have. I keep some in my purse for emergency breath refresh. The orange cardamom is amazing. I am trying NOT to eat them all at once they are so good. I highly recommend these in their handy little box.
Used it with my favorite leave-in conditioner on my 2c-3b hair and it left a nice cast with way less product than I normally use. I made a thicker gel by very gradually adding in water and then sprayed more water into my hair to help distribute. Definitely recommend trying to break up the solids before adding water since my mixture ended up a little chunky, but still worked well.
Overall really great product that I can see myself permanently replacing my old gels with once I've used them up!
I am SO happy I decided to purchase this product a few months ago! I am always looking for ways to simplify my curly hair care routine and as I am a frequent traveller who had plans to go abroad for 3 months, I needed something that worked and that I could bring a bulk amount of with me in my backpacker's pack. And this product is everything I could want and more! I have 2B/2C hair and this product paired with the Eco-Collective organic cocoa butter conditioner bar are a DREAM together! My hair has never looked better - no crunch, just non-frizzy curls that hold! I have a tiny jar with the solid gel powder and another with a small amount of the gel I've made while abroad as well as 2 tins with my shampoo and conditioner bars and BOOM - The ultimate zero-waste minimal travelers hair care routine. I will praise this product forever! Thank you Eco-Collective and Salon Solids!!
I was skeptical at first but this gel makes my 2b/2c hair look awesome without weighing it down. It even refreshed well on day 2/3 with a little water.
I have 3b curly hair and it works just like cantu’s Curling cream. I just use less water than suggested to make the gel thicker.
I was really excited for this product and I think it works well but there are a couple of things that could be added.
My first thought was the powder was really hard to measure because it had been mashed so much it came out like a sheet of paper and I cut it then tried to break it up into a powder. THe boiling process was easy, but I think that I didn't make it strong enough (too watery) because it didn't hold very long.
Love the idea but I need more instruction maybe? I felt a little dumb in my kitchen like hohoho let me make my hair mask.
Also does it go in the fridge? I have been keeping it there haha
