I mean, can you really go wrong? This toothbrush is perfect for just about anyone, seriously. They last a month or two and they are almost fully compostable, what's no to love? <3
I generally prefer a medium bristle but couldn't find one (anywhere I looked) -- this works just as well, though! Adult size. Happy to be replacing my plastic toothbrushes. Would recommend!
I really love the handle of the toothbrush. It feels very stable in my hand. The bristles are nice and soft, but they don't fall apart in my mouth. It also gets my teeth really clean.
Toothbrush looks great and the handle feels good, however the bristles are pretty hard! I’d say they are more firm than my old plastic toothbrush which was labeled “medium”. Unfortunately, this brush does hurt my gums quite a bit. Also, I wish there was a different color option to avoid confusion with other members of the household. My husband’s has a charming piece of blue painters tape on his.
Everything I need in a toothbrush. I wish the bristles could be compostable, but it's still great to have a fully compostable bamboo handle. It feels nice in my hand, and I think that these toothbrushes actually last longer than "regular" plastic ones (at least, I haven't noticed the bristles starting to wear down yet like a plastic toothbrush's bristles would by this time. When do you REALLY need to replace a bamboo toothbrush, anyway?)
This is my second time purchasing this toothpaste, I love it! I had tried Lush tooth tabs, Toms toothpaste, and tooth powder. The lush products and tooth powder made my teeth sensitive. My dental hygienist commented that charcoal tooth powder can change the pH in your mouth and harm your teeth. The Toms toothpaste I wasn’t a fan of the taste, and I couldn’t locate a Toms recycling program near me. The David’s toothpaste is AWESOME. No sensitivity, the consistency is like normal toothpaste, and the peppermint is very pleasant and not an “earthy tasting” peppermint. My only comment is that when you are done with the toothpaste, it’s a little tricky to cut the packaging apart to clean it before recycling. The edges are sharp and the key makes the tube so flat that you can’t easily cut the side to clean the inside out. I’m happy to do it to reduce my waste, but something to be mindful of. So happy to discover this toothpaste!
I love the rolling key to make sure you get as much toothpaste out of the tube as possible. I also love that the metal tube is recyclable, although the plastic cap is not (in my town) due to its small size. The flavor is not a minty as a traditional Crest or Colgate toothpaste, but still refreshing and probably preferable for those of you who are not fans of mint. I am not sure if it is dentist-recommended - I plan to bring it up with my dentist next time I go in and make sure I am making a healthy choice as well as en environmentally conscious one! The price is admittedly pretty high for a tube of toothpaste, although hopefully it will last a long time, especially with the rolling key. I may post an update to this review with information on how long one tube lasts (brushing 2x a day) and what my dentist says about this product. Be well!
I love this toothpaste! It has a fresh taste and great consistency, and the tube key is such a plus to use all the product. One of my favorite swaps to date.
I was skeptical about replacing my standard deodorant with this, but it really works! I'm thrilled!
my underarms have always been extremely sensitive to the point where even natural deodorants constantly broke me out in a rash AND made them dark! I’ve found one that worked a little but it did NOTHING for odor - if anything I think it made it worse! But on the first use with this, NO SMELL ALL DAY! Like wow - a week into using it and no rash either. Never thought a rock would be the answer to my sensitive underarms
This stone is like magic to me! I am an extremely active individual and the deodorant stone held up against my sweaty post run-pits. I spray my stone with water infused with essential oils to give my underarms a nice fragrance. I also sewed a little pouch out of repurposed fabric to keep my stone and spray bottle in while traveling. I highly recommend switching to this zero waste alternative!! Thank you eco-collective for introducing me to such a fabulous product!
I have been on the lookout for a packaging-free deodorant for a while and this is perfect! I've been using a variety of natural (homemade and store-bought) deodorants for the past six years. There is the detox period but I don't mind it. Thanks for offering this option!
I have used this product for several days now and am loving it! It goes on so smooth when I wet it a little in my sink.
I would compare it’s effectiveness to other natural aluminum free deodorants and have not noticed any BO smell, I am a recreational athlete so this is important! It won’t keep you from sweating but neither do any of the other natural deodorants. Best of all this is plastic free!!
I have had such a hard time finding a natural shampoo that doesn't leave my hair greasy, and this bar (I use the one for straight hair) does the job. This is the best shampoo I have ever used.
I am super pleased with this curly hair shampoo bar. I have used shampoo bars before and I have used multiple regular sham
I have a mess of thick curly hair, and I do not shampoo frequently unless I want to resemble a poodle. I have used this bar sparingly over the past month and it leaves a beautiful shine on my hair, my hair is actually soft instead of wiry and after drying, my halo of frizzies are noticeably softer and tamer. I just ordered the curly hair conditioner to use with this, and I think the results are going to be even more fabulous/define my curls more. Highly recommend!
I recently purchased the shampoo bar and have used it 4 times. Unfortunately it makes my hair feel really greasy and dull so I don’t like it:( maybe my husband will like it, thanks anyway 😊
Recently re-purchased the Lovely Rita shampoo bar for curly hair. I am Black and wear my hair naturally curly, and have found that this shampoo bar works great for me. If you're like me and don't wash your hair every time you shower -- or, if you have roommates who also use the shower but don't share shampoo -- I would suggest that you don't store the bar in the shower, even on a wire rack. Even just a little water getting on it during each shower will dissolve it faster. With my second bar, I've been storing it like this (https://bit.ly/2Rt9oOg), and I can already tell that it will last much longer this time.
I purchased these in order to stop purchasing single-use cotton balls. So far they have been great. I followed the below recommendation of washing them first. I wash in a mesh bag and let air dry.
I use a cotton pad to apply toner to my face every night -- this is a wonderful replacement to the single-use cotton pads I was using! These are soft and gentle on my face (eyes included) and hold their shape well. It's likely best to wash and dry these before first use, but I do not have in-unit laundry so was using them out of their packaging. My toner was running right off the pad at first (aka, it was not absorbing into the pad at all / I couldn't apply the toner to my face), but I now rinse and wring out this pad before applying my toner. I do not expect to need to do this once I washing-machine wash and dry these pads.
Would absolutely recommend!
For the past couple years I had been using a microfiber bamboo towel with eye makeup remover (Neutragena oil-free eye makeup remover) to remove makeup. This method worked for me, but I could tell that it was rough on the delicate skin around my eyes. I decided to switch to these reusable cotton facial rounds because I wanted to take better care of my skin and prevent fine lines/signs of aging. Another con of the towel method was higher product absorbency/loss into the towel.
I purchased the white version and they are exactly as pictured, but what you cannot see is that they are so so so soft! They feel very gentle on my eye area and used in combination with my eye makeup remover all of my makeup comes off perfectly onto the cotton round. I also use less makeup remover which is an added bonus.
I love how soft and beautiful they are. They wash easily, using a mesh bag. Highly recommend for anyone looking to remove single-uses from their life.
I'm really excited to use these reusable face wipes. I love the wooden container for them! I have a small mesh bag that I put the used ones in for laundry. I was disappointed that the clothes were white and not colorful like the picture but it just means I will have to order more!!
This is the perfect little bag for days worth of snacks, compost on the go, and more! I use 1 or 2 of the bags almost daily and have quite a few in many fun colors. Very easy to clean, too.
This razor is the best razor I’ve ever used. It’s my first safety razor (instead of like a disposable razor or electric razor), and I love it soo much. It gives such a clean shave, and I only nicked myself a few times on the legs, tbh not too bad for the first time using it! The only thing I would change is the handle, if it had better grip/wasn’t so smooth I think it could make the razor overall better. I 100% recommended this razor though, and it’s a great small step to take in being more eco-friendly :)
This razor worked very well with the shaving soap from Eco Collective; I haven't tried the razor yet with other shaving soaps/creams. The razor left my skin much more smooth and bump-free compared to disposable razors, which was pleasantly surprising. Not sure yet how many times I can shave with the same razor knife before it starts nicking the skin, but I will learn as I go!
I was so excited to pick up this razor from Eco Collective - it's great that they're still offering pick up during COVID. It was a quick & safe handoff & I took my razor home. I was very nervous my first time shaving & went very slowly but it turned out amazing! Didn't cut myself once & my legs were more smooth than I've ever been able to get them with a Venus razor. Since then I've been slowly getting more confident in my shaving abilities, have cut myself twice but it hasn't deterred me. The key, I think, is showering in hot water to relax your hair follicles, using lots of soap or shaving cream & not adding any weight to the razor. I take the pieces apart to let them dry after every use, and so far, no rust. I'm so happy I was able to buy from a local business and continue eliminating plastic from my life.
I was nervous about trying this, but I made it through my first shave without nicking myself and my legs feel SO SMOOTH! Love!
I had been very nervous to try the safety razor. I finally used all the razors I had on hand and decided it was time. It is a bit of an investment, at first. However, it is a high quality that should last you a life time and the blade replacements are so cheap! Before my first use, I watched a couple of YouTube videos on how to use properly and safely. I have found that short strokes with a delicate pressure works perfectly. I did nick my legs during the first use, but like I said there is a learning curve. My advice would be to use our when you have plenty of time to do it carefully. I take my razor apart are each use and rinse thoroughly and store in a dry place. This has proven to keep the razor and blade in top shape for long lasting use. Highly recommend!
Great little jars with secure tops! Used them to hold soap and they work perfectly!
These are really well made jars. Airtight. Nice rubber inside the lid. Great company to work with. Such nice people.
I did not like this product, it left the dreaded flaky white bits in my hair after it dried.
I thought maybe I had just added too much, but I still got the white flakies with less product.
Maybe this works for people with wavy hair, but if you have thick curly hair I don't think this will be great for you.
My hair still got frizzy and I didn't notice a difference in curl hold compared to when I just use a little leave in conditioner.
I would not purchase again.
My husband and I both have short hair and love this gel! It’s easy to make and forms a perfect consistency to hold your hair in place without gets gunky and crusty. I go for days between washing and it hold my hair in place the whole time without looking oily and gross (I have fine hair that shows grease quickly). If I need to refresh it, I just wet my hands and touch up spots. Highly recommend this product!
when I'm too lazy to make flax seed gel this is my #1 to go hair gel. It starts a little stiff feeling when my hair is wet, when its all dry it gives me the perfect curl for my natural hair.
Used it with my favorite leave-in conditioner on my 2c-3b hair and it left a nice cast with way less product than I normally use. I made a thicker gel by very gradually adding in water and then sprayed more water into my hair to help distribute. Definitely recommend trying to break up the solids before adding water since my mixture ended up a little chunky, but still worked well.
Overall really great product that I can see myself permanently replacing my old gels with once I've used them up!
I am SO happy I decided to purchase this product a few months ago! I am always looking for ways to simplify my curly hair care routine and as I am a frequent traveller who had plans to go abroad for 3 months, I needed something that worked and that I could bring a bulk amount of with me in my backpacker's pack. And this product is everything I could want and more! I have 2B/2C hair and this product paired with the Eco-Collective organic cocoa butter conditioner bar are a DREAM together! My hair has never looked better - no crunch, just non-frizzy curls that hold! I have a tiny jar with the solid gel powder and another with a small amount of the gel I've made while abroad as well as 2 tins with my shampoo and conditioner bars and BOOM - The ultimate zero-waste minimal travelers hair care routine. I will praise this product forever! Thank you Eco-Collective and Salon Solids!!
So happy to move towards sustainable makeup. These cases are wonderful! The magnets are SUPER strong too. In fact, these are so beautiful my boyfriend thought they were too pretty to get "ruined" in my makeup drawer!
I wanted to love this bar, but I couldn't. I tried it for 2 weeks. When my hair dried, it was dull and covered in a thick layer of residue. I tried using less shampoo, rinsing it for longer. Nothing worked. My hair felt dirtier right after my showers than it would after 3 days of not washing it. Oh well. I suppose I can use it as body wash, but I don't really want a layer of residue on my body either. I got the "Refresh" version
When I switched to shampoo bars I started out using Friendly from the UK. It worked great but I wanted something closer to home/lower carbon footprint. The sage on the mountain bar finally was my local match! I have fine but curly hair so I need a carefully balanced bar to cut down frizz but without too much oil. These bars are perfect, no nasty residue and the sent is wonderful. Warning, the first couple of times I used the bar the scent was strong, but the smell after washing and when your hair is dry is mild so don't worry.
Absolutely love this shampoo bar. Leaves all hair types from thin and straight, to curly, to thick and wavy - feeling and smelly great. Great alternative to bottled, everyday shampoo.
Love this shampoo bar! It's an easy lather and will last a long time.
At first I was worried it smelled to strong but my washed hair smelled amazing when I got out of the shower. It dried super clean and soft. The shampoo even had a nice satisfying foam to it
I got this eye shadow because I love the idea of a local-ish company run by women. I like the zero-waste packaging. The union is beautiful and really brightens up my eyes! I loooove it. I'm not a big make up wearer but I find myself wanting to wear this eye shadow! I would absolutely buy more.
This sunscreen is amazing. It is moisturizing, so on my oily skin I use this without moisturizer underneath. I love the way this blurs my pores and really gives enough coverage for me. It goes on so nice, and blends well. Feels a little greasy initially but does soak into skin so that soon after applying I don't notice it being greasy at all. Everyone who wants zero waste moisturizing sunscreen should try this! I got the tan and works well for my olive skin in winter, though I may try dark for summer.
I was worried about trying this product due to a lot of other sunscreens in the past leaving a white film on my face and being difficult to apply. This sunscreen though, is everything I have been looking for in a product, applies easily and smoothly, and doesn’t leave any white or greasy film on my face! It actually also kind of acts like a BB cream and provides a little/light foundation like coverage on the face. I would highly recommend this product.
Well I really wish I would have known about this sunscreen months ago! It is incredible, I love that it is a solid stick that goes on smoothly. It smells like vacation/summer because of the coconut and jojoba oil and doesn't feel too greasy on my skin. I like that it's tinted a bit too, so I don't look like a ghost like with my other zinc based sunscreens. The packaging is my favorite, it is sturdy enough while still being compostable, I will never buy a different sunscreen unless they stop making this one.
This facial cleanser works great for my skin and has cleared some of it up (I have the recommended oily skin). It also has a calming smell that isn’t too strong. This is my second time buying it (I bought it the first time in store) and I can confirm that it is worth the money. It lasted me for a over a year, and I wash my face at least twice a day. Would 100% recommend to anyone who has oily skin like me.
I am so happy I was told about this bar by Genevieve (I think that's how you spell her name (sorry!) She is one of the co-owners of Eco Collective). I have always been nervous about switching up my skincare routine because my skin is my biggest point of low self-esteem if it doesn't look good and I'm acne prone at times, but I'm glad I made the switch! I feel like I almost have less breakouts, and when they do happen, they go away so much more quickly! I also started using jojoba oil from Eco Collective as well after I wash my face. I'm about to start using rose water as well just to see what happens! Thanks for all you guys do at Eco Collective!!!
I have mild acne and using this soap has really helped my skin look less oily and more healthy! I also think the scent is quite calming and very nice on your face. Would highly recommend!
After just 2 hair washes using this soap bar I am in love!! As someone who experiences both dandruff and excess oil production (probably because I should massage my scalp more, tbh) this shampoo bar has helped tame and soothe my scalp and hair, my hair is now happier than it's been in a long while. I also love using it to wash/cleanse my face because of the tea tree in it that has wonderful antibacterial properties. I haven't tried it for shaving as I don't really have ever, but I'm sure it's great for that, too. Will definitely be getting more when they are back in stock!!
It's a nice soap, but not my favorite I've ever tried. It works great as a shave soap since it lathers up so nicely, I'm just not too keen on the scent personally. I've never tried it for shampoo though and never travelled with it. Overall, a good purchase!
