Coconut bottle brush
Keep all your zero waste containers sparkling clean with this durable and sustainable brush.
This elegant wooden bottle brush features durable coconut fibers that are ideal for cleaning water bottles, baby bottles, glasses, jars, vases, coffee and tea pots and any vessel with a narrow opening.
This brush is naturally antibacterial, and it has been safely tested to be non-scratching on thousands of surfaces. However, test a small area before use - certain materials such as soft or low quality plastic in particular are more prone to scratching and we cannot ensure it won't scratch every surface.
Use and care
Insert the brush end into a bottle or another vessel and gently scrub the inside with soap and water. Rinse.
Store the brush upright and avoid letting it sit in water for extended periods of time, as this can cause the bristles and handle to deteriorate more quickly.
Size
Brush measures 13"; Bristles are 6" x 2" wide.
Materials
FSC certified wood handle - made from the wood of rubber trees at the end of their life in a plantation.
Recyclable metal wire.
The bristles are made from sustainably farmed coconut husks which is the outside of dried coconuts.
Contains no plastic or toxic chemicals.
Packaging
Recyclable cardboard.
Origin
Made sustainably and ethically in Sri Lanka. Sourced from EcoCoconut a company dedicated to a completely plastic-free product line, down to their shipping and packaging materials! They take care in the sourcing of every material used in their products.
End of life
Reuse the brush for cleaning around the house if it no longer seems fit for bottles. Later, untwist the wire to separate bristles for compost. Separate the wire from the brush to recycle, and compost the wooden handle.
I was excited to find this brush, but unfortunately it broke where the wood connects to the metal after less than a month of use. Thankfully it wasn't too pricey!
Love the ethical and sustainable manufacturing of this product so it's worth it even if it's not 100% perfect! The bristles are definitely firm, so it can double as a scouring material if you need! But also a bit harsh on plastic bottles (I bet they'll soften with use though), so just need to be delicate or it will scratch them up (washing the inside of my Nalgene bottle, for example). I also wish that there was more material along the wirey bottom of it because I can see why other comments felt it was a bit flimsy. But if you're delicate with it, I think it will hold up nicely! Gets the job done for sure! I use with a solid bar of castile soap and ta da! Vegan friendly, palm free, and ethical products are the move in 2020 y'all!
This brush is so useful for getting inside jars and containers with small openings. Because the bristles are so stiff, it cleans really well. My only complaint is that it bends really easily. (I did not find that this has impaired my ability to clean with it in any way though).
This has been a great brush to have in the sink. The bristles are nice and stiff, so it works really well -- even on things that aren't bottles!
