I was really unsure based on reviews i read if i would like this tinted sunscreen or not. I was looking for a good and hearty sunscreen (30 spf) AND something to replace other tinted cosmetic items in my make up kit to get me closer to my zero waste goals. I have a more oily and sensitive skin type that breaks out easy with the wrong products. I am happy to announce that it works great and with no breakouts! With a little concealer and a light dusting of Elate pressed foundation and a bronzer i am ready to rock everyday! I definitely recommend melting it a bit in cooler weather between your palms before putting onto you face, but it works great and looks super natural. The coverage is SUPER light. If you need more coverage for your look, i think you could layer you standard liquid foundation over it too! I highly recommend this product! I have an olive skin tone, but i think someone with a lighter complexion could use this too. Like i said, the coverage is light. However, it is tinted, so you don’t get that weird blueish tint some sunscreen causes. Also, this is the ONLY moisturizer i use during daytime hours layered over my serums, as it is very hydrating. Hope that helps folks thinking about trying for the first time!
I've purchased this exact product before but from a different store, so when I bought this from ecocollective, I already knew what it would be like. The size of this tin is perfect - small enough to throw in my bag when I'm headed outside, whether to the beach/lake or just to the park for a picnic, but large enough to have a good amount of product inside (and so it doesn't get lost inside the bag :) I also now use my old empty tin in my bathroom to hold my aluminum crystal deodorant & shampoo bar from ecocollective! The product itself goes a long way - it's a really thick texture, so I've found that I don't need to use much of it to cover my face and shoulders. I used to use this as my everyday face moisturizer a few years ago, but it's definitely too thick and a little greasy for that, even for my dry Black skin. Now, I use a different daily moisturizer that has aloe vera (which has a weak natural SPF I think? Need to do more research), and for days when I'll be outside, I layer this tinted moisturizer/sunscreen on top, especially for my cheekbones/nose/shoulders where I burn the most. This layering technique works MUCH better for me and my skin. The sunscreen has a unique but nice smell, and the tint is very subtle, blending in to my skin nicely (note: I'm a mixed race Black person with medium skin tone). I liked this product enough to buy it twice, but I will probably try out some other ones when this one runs out.
I loved that this sunscreen was not in plastic and was searching for something lightweight for my daily use on my face. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that I would buy again. The tint is good, although it looks dark at first, it blends in to a nice neutral color (I have a fair complection). But the feel of the product is thick, oily and sticky. I have definitely used better all-natural sunscreens. It's wearable but not great.
