Shampoo bars made with wild-harvested botanicals
These all natural, plastic-free shampoo bars are a such a treat. Hailing from Gott's Island, a tiny island on the Maine coastline, this woman-owned company grows and wild-harvests their botanicals and seaweeds. The bars are handmade with castor oil, soothing seaweed, and botanically infused essential oils. They had us at "wild harvested plant materials."
These shampoo bars last twice as long as a typical bottle of shampoo. We stock the curly hair, straight hair, and men's varieties. Each one conditions hair without leaving it greasy. Powdered kelp stimulates the scalp, keeping your hair smooth and shiny, and helping to relieve itchiness.
Check out our soap tins to store your shampoo bars while traveling.
Use it just as you would a bar of soap, massaging into your scalp. It will create a sudsy lather, and each one is packed full of plant based goodness to leave your hair silky and shiny.
The curly hair is much more moisturizing, while the straight hair variety is more cleansing.
Each bar is approximately 3 oz.
Rosehip and Sugar Kelp Tea, Saponified Oils of: Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, Rosehip infused Castor Oil, Calendula infused Sweet Almond Oil, Rosehip infused Olive Oil, Rosehip Oil, Powdered Kelp, and Essential Oils of Lavender, Rosemary, Bergamot, and Peppermint.
Vegan, palm oil free, sulfate free.
Wrapped in tissue paper made from 100% recycled paper. The packaging is compostable.
Gotts Island, Maine, United States.
Dulse & Rugosa is a mother and daughter business in Gotts Island, Maine. Their ingredients start on their small farm or growing along the rocky shores of the island. They handpick each flower, leaf, and piece of seaweed and then solar dry them. Using the dried seaweeds and botanicals, they then handcraft each of the soaps, lotions, scrubs, and oils with love and care.
It was a bit of an adjustment going from liquid to bar shampoo but I love the smell and am definitely using less plastic!
my hair usually responds well to any shampoo. it's easy. but this made me SO greasy. my hair always looks wet when I use it. don't recommend
I have had such a hard time finding a natural shampoo that doesn't leave my hair greasy, and this bar (I use the one for straight hair) does the job. This is the best shampoo I have ever used.
I am super pleased with this curly hair shampoo bar. I have used shampoo bars before and I have used multiple regular sham
I have a mess of thick curly hair, and I do not shampoo frequently unless I want to resemble a poodle. I have used this bar sparingly over the past month and it leaves a beautiful shine on my hair, my hair is actually soft instead of wiry and after drying, my halo of frizzies are noticeably softer and tamer. I just ordered the curly hair conditioner to use with this, and I think the results are going to be even more fabulous/define my curls more. Highly recommend!
Just-add-water shampoo - various scents
2 fl. oz. yield compostable packet - Perfect for sampling the product to try it out for the first time, or using for travel. The packet contains 0.21 oz. (6g) of granules, and yields 2 fl. oz. of liquid shampoo when mixed with hot water. Fits perfectly in our 2 oz. travel jars.
8 fl. oz. yield packet - One packet creates one batch of liquid shampoo. Pour the granules into any of our 8 oz. reusable pump bottles, fill the rest with hot water, mix, and let cool! This compostable packet contains 0.85 oz. (24g) of granules, and yields 8 fl. oz. of liquid shampoo.
These granules were very moist, almost a clay-like substance. Given the package is very thin, it was challenging to get out. I had to get some tweezers - I never did get it all out. Then I couldn't pour them into my bottle or even use a funnel because the clumps were too big. Once the water was added, the consistency was OK, but I don't feel like it conditioned my hair very well at all. I really really wanted to love this, but I just didn't.
I purchased a trial size of the citrus scent, but I would not recommend that scent. The scent does not linger, but it does smell "off" while using the shampoo. I mixed the packet with (an unknown amount of) water in a 3 fl. oz. travel bottle (emptied packet into bottle, added water to under 3 fl. oz. (aiming for 2 fl. oz.), shook the bottle). The consistency of the product is not very viscous (more liquid-y) and kind of slippery (similar to the Fresh soy face cleanser). Quite a bit of product must be used (I usually use about the size of a grape, but for this product I needed multiple grapes) to lather the product and get a clean hair feeling. I used it in combination with Olaplex no. 5 conditioner. My hair felt soft, clean and nice after air drying. What I like about this product is that I can prepare shampoo based on my use/demand instead of purchasing a giant bottle that will take me years to go through. ***I may have over diluted the product.
Basic sulfate-free shampoo, unscented
This versatile shampoo is perfect for all hair types, including chemically treated hair. Since it's sulfate-free, it won't strip the healthy natural oils from your hair, helping to prevent dryness and breakage! Plus - it's "curly girl method" friendly!
Refreshing, cleansing and nourishing at the same time.
It's a very gentle, unscented shampoo. You can scent it with essential oils to match your preference at home if you like!
If you're ready to try something a little different, check out our just-add-water shampoo or one of our shampoo bars! These options are even more sustainable because they require less packaging and are more lightweight, which reduces shipping emissions.
Pour a dime to a quarter sized dollop of wash (depending on your length of hair) into the palm of your hand. Massage the shampoo into the scalp, working through your wet hair, from root to tip. Rinse thoroughly and follow up with your preferred conditioner.
This can double as a body wash: pour another dime to quarter sized dollop of wash into the palm of your hand to cleanse the body. Rinse thoroughly with cool or tepid water. Repeat if desired.
For a relaxing bubble bath, pour two tablespoons into bath water directly beneath the faucet.
To store this product, we recommend using the provided aluminum bottle with a pump lid.

Not much lather as it’s sulphate free. Left the hair super shiny and clean after wash. Will definitely recommend.
Works really well, doesn’t dry out hair. First “natural” shampoo my daughter (oily hair) really likes and I (dry hair) like it, too. Can’t wait for your store to reopen!
Dry shampoo
This fabulous time saver can give you that extra day in between hair washes, be your best friend on a long camping trip, or help out during times of convalescence or anytime that regular shampooing simply isn’t practical.
Just dust the dry shampoo powder on the roots of your hair to let it absorb excess oil and give your hair added volume.
We recommend pairing this with a mason jar spice lid, which transforms any regular mouth mason jar into the perfect dispenser for your dry shampoo!
Brush your hair. Place a small amount of dry shampoo powder in your hands, lean your head forward and work through your hair starting from the roots. Brush your hair as normal. If hair still looks a bit greasy, repeat application.
We recommend adding a mason jar spice lid to transform any storing your dry shampoo in a glass shaker jar for ease of use, or repurpose an old spice jar.
Store in a cool, dry place.

I am hooked on this dry shampoo! I use about a teaspoon of this product in my oily shoulder length straight hair. I rub the powder into my scalp and voila! My hair is refreshed and ready to go like I just showered. Whether I am on a week long camping trip or just in-between showers this dry shampoo does the trick - AND the 3/4 cup product come in home compatible compostable packaging!
This dry shampoo is amazing! It lasts forever, it's inexpensive, and it works well! I have dirty blond hair so the white blends into my hair and you can't tell. If you have dark hair, you'll maybe see a white cast. I love this stuff and if I ever run out, I'll be buying more!
I think im sold! I'm trying this out for the first time and i feel like it really is holding down my oily scalp! im very impressed. I've tried mulitple spray dry shampoos and so far this has been working!
Ok, so the first time I used this dry shampoo I dumped waaaay too much on my scalp and it looked like I had been dusted with powdered sugar lol. But once I figured out the correct amount it works great! Let's me get away with not washing my hair an extra day to save water.
After the first use - I’ve been converted. It’s very light, absorbs the oils so well, and doesn’t leave my hair with an incredibly strong smell. I thought I’d miss the canned dry shampoo but I don’t. My hair feels so much more natural (not stiff, powdery, or sticky) with this product. My only Initial struggle with this new dry shampoo is application. I’d recommend using a makeup brush to dip into the powder and apply to your hair.

I have tried a couple of other bars and this is the best one I have found.
My boyfriend and I both use it and love it. I have wavy blonde hair that is very dry, he has curly brown hair that is thicker, coarser, and has a problem with being oily. Somehow it works perfect for both of us and we fight over the bar. 100% best conditioner I have ever used.
Love the cocoa butter conditioner bar! Switching away from bottled conditioner and this was the first bar I've tried. I have long medium-curly hair that tends to frizz, and this leaves it soft and moisturized, and the curls bouncy. I use it as a CO wash, and it takes a little longer to work into my hair than the bottled stuff, but is overall more convenient to use and will be easier to travel with. Love the minimalist packaging.
I have fine, wavy-to-curly hair. I go back and forth between curly girl and blown out/straightened styles. This conditioner bar is great for both styles. It does not weigh down my hair or curls. It’s also long-lasting I have used 3-4x a week for the past two months and the bar is about half gone. Recommend for anyone looking to reduce plastic/packaging!
Mango deep conditioner
A deep conditioner to rehydrate natural curly hair with a burst of mango.

After you have washed your hair, apply mango deep conditioner and allow it to sit for a few minutes, rinse and reap the benefits of healthy happy hair.

My Hair Type: Fine, Medium Density, Very Porous, Dry, Frizzy, Curly, Wavy & Straight.
FIRST- I give 5 stars bc the product is as clean as a product gets. Top Quality. SECOND- because of my hair's relentlessly high needs, I find this product to be a better daily conditioner than deep conditioner. Especially because the consistency isn't super thick- my hair sucks it up quickly and I can't get a thick coating without using a ton of it. HOWEVER- if I left this on for several hours I guarantee it would be very beneficial. LAST- I think this product can be used by anyone needing moisture. Again, it's a great product with great ingredients. It's as honest as it gets.
I’ve tried many conditioners from eco collective and comparable women-operated businesses and although I think I’ll stick with the solid conditioner bar, this mango deep conditioner is something I’ll continue to get to treat my hair. I have really long, waist-length, wiry thick black hair and it needs a lot of conditioner.
My coarse, thick, and dry curly hair (3a-3c) loved this stuff! My hair was starting to get pretty dried out after only using conditioner bars for a couple of months, and using this once totally restored my curls. I used it two wash days in a row and it was definitely a little too much moisture the second time around, so I'll treat this as a true deep conditioner and alternate between using this and my conditioner bars. The mango smell is a great added bonus - smells like real mango and isn't overpowering! 10/10 recommend

I loved the idea of this since it's extremely low waste, but it just does not work!
The end product after adding the recommended amount of water is very liquidy and does not do a good job of conditioning my hair. After a shower using this, my hair felt very dry and tangled. I bought all of the 3 different scent options because I thought I'd love them, so how I'm just trying to use them up to be done with them. I've been using this as a leave in conditioner just to use it up which seems to be doing pretty well in that capacity.
As a stand alone it's a definite NO, but as a leave in, it works.
I would not purchase again, I'm sticking with the bars now.
This is exactly what I was looking for! The conditioner powder/paste mix is perfect in every way. Comes in a zero -plastic paper zip bag, fun to make, leaves my hair silky smooth, reasonably priced for the quality. I only wish it’d come in a bulk size or they can restock. So glad I found this. Will repurchase!
This conditioner works really well! I had tried conditioner bars and I just wasn't a fan. This stuff comes out to a great consistency and does a good job. I added my own mix of essential oils to the unscented packet for my own scent. When my current batch is out I will buy the bulk packet to keep using this product with minimal waste!

This spray works great on my curls. I use it on my hair right after a shower. A little goes a long way. I have long and thick hair, two to three sprays does the trick. Too much weighs down my hair. It works to detangle my hair with a wet brush and damp/wet hair.
This is the FIRST leave in spray I've ever liked. My hair is very porous and I have to reapply/reseal leave-in conditioner several times between washes. This is the perfect product for the job. It refills my strands without weighing them down.
I love that the ingredients are clean and the product can be traced.
The fine mister spray nozzle is a simple yet excellent feature because it distributes the product with absolute perfection. It sprays both evenly and lightly; allowing you to no go overboard.
It's also kind of a "base product" that can be used "as is" or customized. I added a few key essential oils for further nourishment. Though, It's pretty perfect the way it is.
****The ONLY THING- I don't think it performs well as a simple detangler. My daughter's hair has knots every morning. Ive used this spray several times and it just doesn't do much for helping detangle. It provided lots of moisture but she doesn't need the extra moisture so it gets heavy. I also don't see it PREVENTING tangles on her either.
I recommend for hair types similar to mine-
Fine
Medium Density
Unruly Frizz
Highly Porous
Damage
Excessive Dryness
Mix of 2b/3b curly/wavy/and straight
*It's a disaster of a hair combo is what it is
