Instructions

Cleanse your face and neck every morning and night. Always cleanse in circular motions in an upward direction. Be gentle with your skin; you do not need heavy pressure to cleanse. You don’t need to use anything but your hands; washcloths are optional.

To store this product, we recommend either reusing an old bottle, or storing in the provided mason jar with an optional mason jar pump lid. If you're transferring from a mason jar to a different container, you may want to use a funnel.

Kaolin white clay is one of the most gentle clays out there. It draws out impurities from pores, soothes inflammation, and tightens the skin naturally. This clay can be mined from all over the world, but was originally mined from the Kao-ling mountains in China. We recommend this clay to anyone with sensitive skin or those with irritated acne prone skin.

Instructions

For best results use a wooden or plastic spoon mix 1 tsp of clay with 1 tsp of water, rosewater or your liquid of choice in a plastic, glass or ceramic bowl until it creates a paste, not too thick or too thin. Use a brush or clean fingers to evenly distribute onto your face. Leave on for 5-8 minutes not allowing the clay to fully dry on your face. It shouldn’t be hard or painful to move the muscles in your face. With a washcloth use cold or warm (not hot) water to remove the clay using a circular motion. Pat dry and follow with a toner and moisturizer.

How to store: Always use glass, wood or plastic when storing natural clays, never allowing it to touch metal since clays will absorb the metals and become less effective. Keep in a cool, dry place.

Naturally occurring Citric Acid is a member of the alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) group and in skin care products it is often used as an ingredient in exfoliants and chemical peels. Citric acid is known to help speed up new cell turnover, unclog pores, help even skin tone and helps to brighten and soften skin. Unlike other acids citric acid contains many antioxidant properties making it great to help fight pesky external aggressors like the sun or air pollution. Citric acid can also be used to make bath bombs or shower steamers.

Instructions

To reduce the pH (increase the acidity) of water based products, add Citric Acid at approximately 0.2% during the water phase or final phase. Ideally, skin care products should have a pH between 4.5 and 5.5. In an exfoliant or chemical peel Citric Acid can be added at up to 5%. Alpha hydroxy acids can irritate the skin, so exercise caution.

Ingredient Function: Typically used as a pH adjuster, mild exfoliator and antioxidant.

Not to be mistaken for the charcoal you typically use for your BBQ, activated charcoal is created by burning carbon rich materials (like wood or coconut shells) at high temperatures. This creates a powder that is very porous which is why it is great for drawing out toxins, dirt and oil. Activated charcoal is generally used in skin, hair and dental care products. Constantly cleansing hands is important, but it can leave skin red and dry. Enter this excellent hand cleansing gel: 64% Alcohol that is both non-GMO and sustainably sourced. How to store

Store in the glass serum pump dispenser to take with you on the go, or in a pump bottle for use at home, gym, workplace, etc. 

This product is meant to be stored at room temperature. Under extreme heat, the ingredients may separate, and for variants packaged in aluminum, may cause deterioration of the bottle.

Bentonite Clay, a combination of montmorillonite and volcanic ash, is a highly absorbent clay that has been aged in prehistoric seabeds which is how it absorbed all of its minerals. Bentonite clay is known for absorbing dirt and oil from the skin. It helps to purify and rejuvenate pores as well as help with acne, blemishes, burns and cuts. We recommend this clay for all skin types, but can be especially beneficial for those with oily skin.

Instructions

For best results use a wooden or plastic spoon mix 1 tsp of clay with 1 tsp of water, rosewater or your liquid of choice in a plastic, glass or ceramic bowl until it creates a paste, not too thick or too thin. Use a brush or clean fingers to evenly distribute onto your face. Leave on for 5-8 minutes not allowing the clay to fully dry on your face. It shouldn’t be hard or painful to move the muscles in your face. With a washcloth use cold or warm (not hot) water to remove the clay using a circular motion. Pat dry and follow with a toner and moisturizer.

Pregnant or lactating people, or those with known medical conditions should consult with a physician prior to using product.

How to store: Always use glass, wood or plastic when storing natural clays, never allowing it to touch metal since clays will absorb the metals and become less effective. Keep in a cool, dry place.

Certified Organic Cassava Powder is a starch obtained from the roots of the tropical plant, Manihot esculenta, commonly called Cassava. White in color and very lightweight, it is generally used as a substitute for corn starch or talc, and is interchangeable with arrowroot powder. It's a thickening agent with moisture absorbing qualities.

We love using cassava powder as a dry shampoo, or as a main ingredient in DIY natural deodorant recipes. You can even dust it on sweaty areas by itself to control and absorb moisture. It naturally absorbs moisture and smooths skin. 

Instructions

Arrowroot is a useful ingredient for many DIY projects. Use your favorite recipe or in one of our recommended methods:

Using cassava powder as dry shampoo:
Brush your hair. Place a small amount of cassava powder in your hands, lean your head forward and work through your hair starting from the roots. Brush your hair as normal. If hair still looks a bit greasy, repeat application.

When using cassava powder as a dry shampoo, we recommend storing it in a glass shaker jar for ease of use or repurpose an old spice jar.

Using cassava as a deodorant:
Cassava powder helps with moisture control and absorption. You can use it as an ingredient in a DIY natural deodorant recipe (Pinterest has some great ones! Arrowroot powder is an interchangeable ingredient) or use it on its own for moisture control.
To use it plain, dust it on your pits while they are dry with a powder brush. This makes a great pairing with our Alum stone deodorant which prevents odor. Apply alum stone first, let dry, then apply cassava powder.

This tiny power packed seed is full of benefits. From improving digestion, helping lower cholesterol to amazing skin and hair. Flaxseeds are an anti-inflammatory that are high in omega-3 fatty acids known for increasing the speed at which skin wounds heal and reduce inflammation in the skin, fighting acne. The essential fatty acids found in flaxseeds help keep the skin hydrated and smooth in appearance. Also full of antioxidants that help protect against environmental stressors.

Instructions

Use in a face mask by adding 2tbsp ground flax seeds (you can grind them using a mortar and pestle or even a coffee grinder), 1 tbsp clay of choice, 4 tbsp water. Leave on for 15 minutes. Soften the mask with water and scrub around for 2 minutes before washing off.

To make a DIY hair gel to encourage shiny, healthy and bouncy curls, boil 2 cups of water with 2 Tbsp flax seeds, boil on medium high heat for about 10 mins, let cool, and then strain through a thin cloth or nut milk filter. Apply to wet hair, scrunch to encourage curls and let dry naturally or with a diffuser attachment on your hair dryer!Store your DIY flax gel in the refrigerator, and it keeps for about 1-2 weeks.

We recommend storing your flax seeds in an airtight glass container.
