Locally made hand & body soaps
We're kind of freaking out about these soaps. Call us obsessive, but we've been searching high and low for the perfect vegan, sulfate-free, palm oil free, locally made natural hand and body soaps for ages.
These soaps are absolutely luxurious, and they're handmade by Liz, a woman on our wavelength, not too far from here, in Spokane, WA. All of the colors come from natural pigments in clays, herbal infusions, spices, and other botanicals. The result is cleansing care that is safe for your body, safe for the water, safe for the earth.
Each bar of soap is a unique work of art - no two are exactly the same, which means they will vary slightly from the photos.
Types
Pink Clay + grapefruit - Burst of citrusy grapefruit on the skin and cleansing pink clay suds. Luxurious and pink.
Blue clay + patchouli - Blue clay cleanses the skin while sea salt gently exfoliates. Earthy scents of patchouli and sandalwood delight the senses.
Lavender - Alkanet root gives this bar a natural purple pigment and the lavender scent releases a soft floral scent.
Unscented coconut milk + calendula- Only seven ingredients. Shea butter and organic coconut milk create a moisturizing, creamy lather. Organic calendula petals gently infuse the soap with skin-loving properties. Safe ingredients make it the perfect bar for kids, babies, and anyone with sensitive skin, especially since it is does not contain any essential oils. Perfect for bathtime.
Lemon + poppy seed - Poppy seeds naturally exfoliate the skin while bursts of lemon delight the senses. An exfoliant that is safe for the skin, the water, and the earth. Though you may be tempted, do not eat this soap!
Eucalyptus + Sea Clay - Take your skin to the spa with eucalyptus essential oil. Shea butter moisturizes the skin while french green clay and sea clay create soft, green bubbles. Himalayan pink salt garnish creates a gentle exfoliation.
Earl grey tea - Like a swirled london fog latte, or a cup of tea with cream, this bar is scented with essential oils of bergamot with a hint of lavender and cinnamon. Organic, whole leaf earl grey tea and activated charcoal create a gorgeous grey swirl.
Cinnamon + Clove - Essential oils of cinnamon, clove, and orange create the perfect spiced holiday scent that lingers in your shower and on the skin. The gorgeous mulled wine red comes from madder root powder for a spiced holiday experience.
Sweet Orange + Ginger - Bright, warm scents of orange and ginger with gently exfoliating poppy seeds. Sunshiny bubbles for happy, glowing skin. An exfoliant that is safe for the skin, the water, and the earth.
Winter solstice - All the magic of winter solstice and a blend of winter herbs and spices - frankincense, cypress, cinnamon leaf, sage, and pine. Naturally pigmented with blue clay, indigo, and annatto seed powder, reminiscent of the bonfires lit on this dark winter night.
Pumpkin spice - Made with a warm blend of cinnamon, clove, and orange essential oils. Naturally pigmented with organic pumpkin and turmeric.

To help use soap ends, you can place bits and pieces of soaps into a small mesh cloth bag to use in the bath or shower!
This soap is great! Love that it's made locally too. It's not overly drying and doesn't leave a weird feeling on your skin afterwards like other soaps do. They're also so pretty and instagram-worthy if you're into that thing. I will continue to buy these! Worth the price for sure!
The rose/ylang ylang smells like heaven and it will make you want to shower even when you don't need to. The lemon poppy smells and lathers great, but it's a strong exfoliant. I have dry skin so I only use it once a week.
Second time ordering soap from Eco Collective and I’m so impressed. This soap smells amazing while not giving me a headache. It lasts forever! My partner and I both use it and it lasted us three months. 10/10. I now have one for the shower and the sink.
I love these soaps-- I got one for each of our bathroom sinks and they're both really nice. I especially love the smell of the blue clay and patchouli. They're very smooth and suds up very nicely. I will be repurchasing when I run out of soap again.
I always appreciate that Eco Collective stocks local eco-concious brands that I likely wouldn't have heard of otherwise. Thank you for introducing me to Flourish Botanicals!
It’s hard for me to find bars of body soap that don’t leave a residue after I rinse off. This soap smells so good and I love how it exfoliates my skin. Definitely recommend!
I love trying bar soap from many local and small businesses & I love this bar. Beautiful presentation with the flowers on top, just like in the photo. Lathers very well, smells amazing but not too strong on the body afterwards. Been enjoying using it to shave with my ECO new safety razor!

I have this one and then 2 other ones I bought elsewhere. This one is the best one yet. It's bigger and higher quality.... Doesn't feel like it's gonna unravel. I definitely recommend
I've really liked this pouch so far. I didn't know what to do with my small soap pieces because they were too small to use but I also didn't want to waste them. This pouch dries hard if you keep the soap in it after each shower/bath, but softens when wet.
Lavender bodywash
This gentle bodywash is lightly scented with organic lavender and has a luxurious lather! Perfect for a daily shower, a relaxing spa-like experience, or even used as bubble bath.
Another option you might consider is a solid soap to use as bodywash. You can check out our shampoo, shower, shave bar, or one of our hand & body bar soaps! These non-liquid options are even more sustainable because they require less packaging and are more lightweight, which reduces shipping emissions.
Instructions
Directions as a body wash: Wet body and massage a small amount of gel onto body, working into a lather. Rinse well.
Directions as a hair shampoo: First, wet hair completely. Pour a dime to quarter sized dollop of shampoo (depending on your length of hair) into the palm of your hand. Massage the shampoo into the scalp, working through your hair, covering the entire hair shaft from root to tip. Rinse thoroughly with cool or tepid water. Repeat if desired. Follow up with your preferred conditioner.
Directions as a hand wash: Frequent hand washing can over dry skin, while soaps can alter skin pH, making it more alkaline than normal, which can affect the skin’s ability to act as a barrier. When the epidermal barrier is disrupted, the potential for skin damage escalates. This product was formulated with skin’s pH in mind to help prevent this disruption.
Directions as a bubble bath: For a relaxing bubble bath pour two tablespoons into bath water directly beneath the faucet. Turn water on full strength. The greater the force, the more bubbles. Make sure to rinse really well.

Shampoo bars made with wild-harvested botanicals
These all natural, plastic-free shampoo bars are a such a treat. Hailing from Gott's Island, a tiny island on the Maine coastline, this woman-owned company grows and wild-harvests their botanicals and seaweeds. The bars are handmade with castor oil, soothing seaweed, and botanically infused essential oils. They had us at "wild harvested plant materials."
These shampoo bars last twice as long as a typical bottle of shampoo. We stock the curly hair, straight hair, and men's varieties. Each one conditions hair without leaving it greasy. Powdered kelp stimulates the scalp, keeping your hair smooth and shiny, and helping to relieve itchiness.
Check out our soap tins to store your shampoo bars while traveling.
Use and care
Use it just as you would a bar of soap, massaging into your scalp. It will create a sudsy lather, and each one is packed full of plant based goodness to leave your hair silky and shiny.
The curly hair is much more moisturizing, while the straight hair variety is more cleansing.
Size
Each bar is approximately 3 oz.
Ingredients
Rosehip and Sugar Kelp Tea, Saponified Oils of: Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, Rosehip infused Castor Oil, Calendula infused Sweet Almond Oil, Rosehip infused Olive Oil, Rosehip Oil, Powdered Kelp, and Essential Oils of Lavender, Rosemary, Bergamot, and Peppermint.
Vegan, palm oil free, sulfate free.
Packaging
Wrapped in tissue paper made from 100% recycled paper. The packaging is compostable.
Origin
Gotts Island, Maine, United States.
Dulse & Rugosa is a mother and daughter business in Gotts Island, Maine. Their ingredients start on their small farm or growing along the rocky shores of the island. They handpick each flower, leaf, and piece of seaweed and then solar dry them. Using the dried seaweeds and botanicals, they then handcraft each of the soaps, lotions, scrubs, and oils with love and care.
It was a bit of an adjustment going from liquid to bar shampoo but I love the smell and am definitely using less plastic!
my hair usually responds well to any shampoo. it's easy. but this made me SO greasy. my hair always looks wet when I use it. don't recommend
I have had such a hard time finding a natural shampoo that doesn't leave my hair greasy, and this bar (I use the one for straight hair) does the job. This is the best shampoo I have ever used.
I am super pleased with this curly hair shampoo bar. I have used shampoo bars before and I have used multiple regular sham
I have a mess of thick curly hair, and I do not shampoo frequently unless I want to resemble a poodle. I have used this bar sparingly over the past month and it leaves a beautiful shine on my hair, my hair is actually soft instead of wiry and after drying, my halo of frizzies are noticeably softer and tamer. I just ordered the curly hair conditioner to use with this, and I think the results are going to be even more fabulous/define my curls more. Highly recommend!

These granules were very moist, almost a clay-like substance. Given the package is very thin, it was challenging to get out. I had to get some tweezers - I never did get it all out. Then I couldn't pour them into my bottle or even use a funnel because the clumps were too big. Once the water was added, the consistency was OK, but I don't feel like it conditioned my hair very well at all. I really really wanted to love this, but I just didn't.
I purchased a trial size of the citrus scent, but I would not recommend that scent. The scent does not linger, but it does smell "off" while using the shampoo. I mixed the packet with (an unknown amount of) water in a 3 fl. oz. travel bottle (emptied packet into bottle, added water to under 3 fl. oz. (aiming for 2 fl. oz.), shook the bottle). The consistency of the product is not very viscous (more liquid-y) and kind of slippery (similar to the Fresh soy face cleanser). Quite a bit of product must be used (I usually use about the size of a grape, but for this product I needed multiple grapes) to lather the product and get a clean hair feeling. I used it in combination with Olaplex no. 5 conditioner. My hair felt soft, clean and nice after air drying. What I like about this product is that I can prepare shampoo based on my use/demand instead of purchasing a giant bottle that will take me years to go through. ***I may have over diluted the product.
Basic sulfate-free shampoo, unscented
This versatile shampoo is perfect for all hair types, including chemically treated hair. Since it's sulfate-free, it won't strip the healthy natural oils from your hair, helping to prevent dryness and breakage! Plus - it's "curly girl method" friendly!
Refreshing, cleansing and nourishing at the same time.
It's a very gentle, unscented shampoo. You can scent it with essential oils to match your preference at home if you like!
If you're ready to try something a little different, check out our just-add-water shampoo or one of our shampoo bars! These options are even more sustainable because they require less packaging and are more lightweight, which reduces shipping emissions.

This can double as a body wash: pour another dime to quarter sized dollop of wash into the palm of your hand to cleanse the body. Rinse thoroughly with cool or tepid water. Repeat if desired.

Not much lather as it’s sulphate free. Left the hair super shiny and clean after wash. Will definitely recommend.
Works really well, doesn’t dry out hair. First “natural” shampoo my daughter (oily hair) really likes and I (dry hair) like it, too. Can’t wait for your store to reopen!

My Hair Type: Fine, Medium Density, Very Porous, Dry, Frizzy, Curly, Wavy & Straight.
FIRST- I give 5 stars bc the product is as clean as a product gets. Top Quality. SECOND- because of my hair's relentlessly high needs, I find this product to be a better daily conditioner than deep conditioner. Especially because the consistency isn't super thick- my hair sucks it up quickly and I can't get a thick coating without using a ton of it. HOWEVER- if I left this on for several hours I guarantee it would be very beneficial. LAST- I think this product can be used by anyone needing moisture. Again, it's a great product with great ingredients. It's as honest as it gets.
I’ve tried many conditioners from eco collective and comparable women-operated businesses and although I think I’ll stick with the solid conditioner bar, this mango deep conditioner is something I’ll continue to get to treat my hair. I have really long, waist-length, wiry thick black hair and it needs a lot of conditioner.
My coarse, thick, and dry curly hair (3a-3c) loved this stuff! My hair was starting to get pretty dried out after only using conditioner bars for a couple of months, and using this once totally restored my curls. I used it two wash days in a row and it was definitely a little too much moisture the second time around, so I'll treat this as a true deep conditioner and alternate between using this and my conditioner bars. The mango smell is a great added bonus - smells like real mango and isn't overpowering! 10/10 recommend
Organic cocoa butter conditioner bar

Apply it by rubbing it on your hands in warm water or directly on your hair to moisturize and loosen tangles. You can also use it as a leave-in conditioner after the shower!

I have tried a couple of other bars and this is the best one I have found.
My boyfriend and I both use it and love it. I have wavy blonde hair that is very dry, he has curly brown hair that is thicker, coarser, and has a problem with being oily. Somehow it works perfect for both of us and we fight over the bar. 100% best conditioner I have ever used.
Love the cocoa butter conditioner bar! Switching away from bottled conditioner and this was the first bar I've tried. I have long medium-curly hair that tends to frizz, and this leaves it soft and moisturized, and the curls bouncy. I use it as a CO wash, and it takes a little longer to work into my hair than the bottled stuff, but is overall more convenient to use and will be easier to travel with. Love the minimalist packaging.
I have fine, wavy-to-curly hair. I go back and forth between curly girl and blown out/straightened styles. This conditioner bar is great for both styles. It does not weigh down my hair or curls. It’s also long-lasting I have used 3-4x a week for the past two months and the bar is about half gone. Recommend for anyone looking to reduce plastic/packaging!
Basic conditioner, unscented
A basic, rich hair conditioner formulated with soothing organic aloe, strengthening hydrolyzed wheat protein and nourishing pro-vitamin B5.
If you have wavy or curly hair, or are just looking for some extra moisture, you might like our curly hair conditioner, or our mango deep conditioner for coily or kinky hair.
If you're ready to try something a little different, check out our just-add-water conditioner or a conditioner bar! These options are even more sustainable because they require less packaging and are more lightweight, which reduces shipping emissions.

The packets are home compostable and commercially compostable.I loved the idea of this since it's extremely low waste, but it just does not work!
The end product after adding the recommended amount of water is very liquidy and does not do a good job of conditioning my hair. After a shower using this, my hair felt very dry and tangled. I bought all of the 3 different scent options because I thought I'd love them, so how I'm just trying to use them up to be done with them. I've been using this as a leave in conditioner just to use it up which seems to be doing pretty well in that capacity.
As a stand alone it's a definite NO, but as a leave in, it works.
I would not purchase again, I'm sticking with the bars now.
This is exactly what I was looking for! The conditioner powder/paste mix is perfect in every way. Comes in a zero -plastic paper zip bag, fun to make, leaves my hair silky smooth, reasonably priced for the quality. I only wish it’d come in a bulk size or they can restock. So glad I found this. Will repurchase!
This conditioner works really well! I had tried conditioner bars and I just wasn't a fan. This stuff comes out to a great consistency and does a good job. I added my own mix of essential oils to the unscented packet for my own scent. When my current batch is out I will buy the bulk packet to keep using this product with minimal waste!

Use and care
Razor and blades: Allow the weight of the razor to guide you; never press down with the razor head or drag it across your skin like you might with a disposable razor. Use a shaving soap for best results. When you follow these tips, you'll have a cleaner, safer shave. To travel, simply remove the blade. Dry off the razor after each use and replace the blade when it becomes dull; Bea Johnson says her sons take the razor head apart to let the blade dry after every shave, and the blades last them for an impressive 6 months!
Shave soap: Lather like a bar of soap, and spread as you would shaving cream, or swirl a shaving brush over the top to load and apply with a brush.

End of life
Use the shaving soap until completely gone, and re-use the soap tin again and again. The soap tin can be recycled if necessary.
The safety razor should last a lifetime if you take care of it properly.
Replacement blades can be sharpened with denim and eventually recycled.
We recommend collecting used blades in a closed metal container for safety since they are sharp and could be hazardous to you or anyone else handling them on their way to be recycled. Blades fit well in our 2 oz screw top tin, or you can use something you have at home.
To recycle the blades, we have a few suggestions...
- An easy catch-all option is to ship them to Albatross Designs (PO Box 2254 Berkeley, CA 94702), a company that recycles used razor blades - just be sure to double-envelope them or ship the closed tin of blades so they don't cut through the envelope.
- You can also check with your local recycling collection service to ask if it's alright to put the closed container of blades directly in the recycling bin. Some are okay with it, and others aren't!
- Another option is to take your tin of blades directly to a nearby scrap metal recycler.
I love this kit! This is the best razor I’ve ever used and the shave bar is so lovely.
I am so glad I bought this! This was a great investment. I am thrilled at the prospect of never buying a plastic razor again! The razor itself is beautifully made, weighty, and very reasonably priced. The replacement razors are all sharp and the tin arrived in perfect shape. I LOVE that the included shave bar is from Dulse and Rugosa...the scent! Highly recommend the shave kit to anyone and everyone! ✌️

This razor is the best razor I’ve ever used. It’s my first safety razor (instead of like a disposable razor or electric razor), and I love it soo much. It gives such a clean shave, and I only nicked myself a few times on the legs, tbh not too bad for the first time using it! The only thing I would change is the handle, if it had better grip/wasn’t so smooth I think it could make the razor overall better. I 100% recommended this razor though, and it’s a great small step to take in being more eco-friendly :)
This razor worked very well with the shaving soap from Eco Collective; I haven't tried the razor yet with other shaving soaps/creams. The razor left my skin much more smooth and bump-free compared to disposable razors, which was pleasantly surprising. Not sure yet how many times I can shave with the same razor knife before it starts nicking the skin, but I will learn as I go!
I was so excited to pick up this razor from Eco Collective - it's great that they're still offering pick up during COVID. It was a quick & safe handoff & I took my razor home. I was very nervous my first time shaving & went very slowly but it turned out amazing! Didn't cut myself once & my legs were more smooth than I've ever been able to get them with a Venus razor. Since then I've been slowly getting more confident in my shaving abilities, have cut myself twice but it hasn't deterred me. The key, I think, is showering in hot water to relax your hair follicles, using lots of soap or shaving cream & not adding any weight to the razor. I take the pieces apart to let them dry after every use, and so far, no rust. I'm so happy I was able to buy from a local business and continue eliminating plastic from my life.
I was nervous about trying this, but I made it through my first shave without nicking myself and my legs feel SO SMOOTH! Love!
I had been very nervous to try the safety razor. I finally used all the razors I had on hand and decided it was time. It is a bit of an investment, at first. However, it is a high quality that should last you a life time and the blade replacements are so cheap! Before my first use, I watched a couple of YouTube videos on how to use properly and safely. I have found that short strokes with a delicate pressure works perfectly. I did nick my legs during the first use, but like I said there is a learning curve. My advice would be to use our when you have plenty of time to do it carefully. I take my razor apart are each use and rinse thoroughly and store in a dry place. This has proven to keep the razor and blade in top shape for long lasting use. Highly recommend!

Safety razor replacement blades - set of 10
Our replacement blades fit perfectly with our safety razor and are just a few cents per blade! The dual blade allows you to use both sides of the same blade, lasting at least twice as long as a disposable razor.
Use and care
Use with our stainless steel safety razor. To insert a new blade, untwist the top of the razor head, gripping the sides to avoid touching the sharp part fo the blade. Separate the pieces, and place the new blade between the two pieces of the razor head, allowing the metal posts to keep it in place.
When shaving, allow the weight of the razor to guide you; never press down with the razor head or drag it across your skin like you might with a disposable razor. Use shaving soap for best results.

I LOVE this shave bar. This is the second low waste shave soap I've tried (I hated the first brand I used) and I've found my match. It lathers well (I use with a shave brush) and is so soft and gives me a really close comfortable shave. The low waste bar I used before this didn't provide much slip and my skin would get irritated and the shave wouldn't be close. With this bar it's SO smooth and provides slip for the razor its like a night and day difference and my legs feel very soft after. Very glad I tried this shave bar and won't be using anything else :)
I may be one of the strange humans who actually likes shaving my legs, so I've tried a lot of different cream, lotion, soap and foaming alternatives in search for a low waste, natural product. After finding this, my search is over. Razor glides smoothly and foam is adequate and no plastic or packaging waste!! Hooray. Please never stop carrying this item, Eco Collective!

I have pretty normal skin and don't suffer from too many breakouts (usually 1-3 pimples around the time of my cycle) but occasionally have hard knots under the skin that are super painful. Since using this facial soap (about 1.5 months at this point) I haven't noticed any negative effects on my skin. I'll happily continue to use this!
When will this be back in stock? I neeeeeeeed it. I am a fresh-faced goddess from using this soap. See that light in the distance? It's me. xo
In the few weeks Ive used this facial soap Ive seen a significant change in my small breakouts and specifically oil-deposits/blackheads.
The lather is so silky and it smells clean but not overly fragrant. This will last me a while even with washing my face 2x a day - I have combo skin type leaning toward dry, for context
This has been great for my husband's skin. He's had problem combination skin his whole life, and this has definitely reduced his breakouts and made his skin tone more even. Love that it is zero waste! We bought the soap stone to go with the soap bar, but the liquid soap dripped off the stone too easily and stained our white bath tub. Our solution (taken from another reviewer) was to take an old mint tin, strum rubber bands in a cross hatch across the lip of the tin, and then rest the soap bar on top of the rubber band. The tin offered a lip to catch any soap drippings, and prevented future stains.

Pros: Feels great on skin, lathers well, smell is very mild, and, as other reviews have mentioned, it really hasn't changed shape at all after nearly a month of use. So for overall quality and price, 5 stars hands down.
Cons: Something in this soap seems to be drying my face out. If you have a healthy moisturizing regiment already, then this will likely be no problem. I just noticed I have had to increase my method of moisturizing a lot after washing my face with this. Still recommend!
Love this face wash. It doesn’t irritate or dry out my skin.
I love this soap! It soaps up really easily, and you don't need much to get a thick lather. Doesn't dry out my skin
This is the face wash my dry skin was looking for. Such a gentle cleanse, pleasantly faint smell, and seems like it will last me a long time as the bar hasn't even changed shape after two weeks of using it. Super excited to keep using this!
A lot of facial soaps (bar and otherwise) can feel like they strip the skin of everything- dirt, bacteria, and oils. With this bar, I feel like it is cleansing without stripping away moisture that I need to replace right away with face lotion and the like. I can't speak to the UV protection, inflammation reduction, or redness reduction that the description holds, but so far have been very satisfied with my purchase- which is great, since this seems like it will last me a long time!
