This plastic-free sponge is made straight from the loofah plant! It starts off as a gourd that is then dried and turned into a soft sponge, so each one is unique.
It's perfect for washing dishes. You can even cut it into five smaller sponges if you fancy - each loofah or loofah piece lasts about six months!
Not only is it biodegradable, it's 100% plant fiber. We've been looking for an alternative to plastic sponges, and loofahs have great scrubbing power for tough spots on dishes and general cleaning around the home.
It can also be used as a shower loofah. It will gently exfoliate your skin and cleanse your pores so your skin is left feeling soft and refreshed.
Unpackaged, compostable, multipurpose and plastic free. Color us excited!
Use and care
Use as a sponge, for dishes or home cleaning. If you'd like, you can cut it into several smaller sponge slices with a bread knife.
Let dry thoroughly after each use. You can also sanitize it from time to time by microwaving for 15 seconds.
Safe for nonstick pots and pans.
Our loofahs can also be used for bath and body, to create a lather with soap, exfoliate skin and stimulate circulation.
With daily use, each loofah will last around 6 months.
Each loofah is about 4" long and 2-3" round.
Loofahs are 100% plant fiber, meaning they are vegan, cruelty free and plastic free. They are made from the dried loofah plant. Our loofahs are unprocessed and unbleached.
Our loofahs are from a US company owned by a female US Navy veteran. They are based in South Dakota and are the producers of the Hippie Haven podcast all about sustainability! Their products are small batch, ethically made, and non-toxic.
End of life
You can compost these in your backyard or bury them in your garden, and they will break down within 30 days. They can be commercially composted where available as well.
I use mine as a shower loofah and it exfoliates wonderfully! Highly recommend.
This works great for cleaning dishes. I didn't like it as much for the shower but I will definitely be buying again for the kitchen.
Let me count the ways that I love this sponge. I bought two, one for the shower and the other for dishes. It lathers up so well and is the perfect size. I prefer it more for the shower than dishes but it gets the job done.
For the shower, it’s a soft exfoliant and the holes in the middle are perfect for putting soap that is reaching its end.
For dishes, it’s really good but if you’re like me and tend to not rinse their dishes from time to time, then it tends to break down quicker. To extend its life, I use the wooden dish brush for stuck on food and finish with the sponge. Regardless, it gets my dishes way cleaner than my silicone sponge.
